Integrative Psychotherapy For Eating Disorders + ED Recovery Support

Through an integrative lens, Kim Seelbrede offers clinical excellence and support for individuals struggling with the symptoms of an eating disorder. Patients find the strength to confront feelings, emotions, trauma and other problems that have led to the development of the eating disorder symptom, and learn the tools and skills to overcome their disordered eating patterns and eventually enter a recovery phase. An integrative therapy approach including interpersonal psychotherapy, behavior therapy, EMDR therapy and the collaboration with other professionals are effective treatments for bulimia nervosa, binge eating and other forms of ED's. Treatment success can be defined as the following:

  • the reduction of eating disorder symptoms and behaviors
  • the improvement in the status of one's health
  • the restoration of relationships with family and friends
  • increased awareness one's feelings, thoughts, emotional needs, physical hunger and actual nourishment needs
  • the ability to return to a productive, healthy and meaningful life
  • a renewed interest in school, work and hobbies

The goal of ED treatment is to help patients become committed to a life of good health, freedom, balance and purpose. Treatment is most successful when a team approach is utilized working closely with therapist, nutritionists, doctors as needed. Kim Seelbrede received specialized eating disorder, compulsions and addictions training at the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis and Psychology and uses her network of professionals for support and referrals.
